 PRIVACY POLICY

Effective Date: August 4, 2026 App Name: Civil Cal Developer: Purohit Moshai Contact Email: support.purohitmoshai@gmail.com Website: https://purohitmoshai.com

1. Introduction

Purohit Moshai ("we," "our," "us") built the Civil Cal mobile application ("App," "Service") as an offline civil engineering calculator tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App does and does not collect, how it is used, and your rights regarding it. This policy is written to comply with the Google Play Developer Program Policy (User Data policy), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

By downloading or using Civil Cal, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Summary — Offline-First Design

Civil Cal is built as a 100% offline calculation tool. All calculators, formulas, unit conversions, and the Formula Reference Library run entirely on your device using local processing. We do not operate any backend server for the app's core functionality, and no calculation input, result, project data, or history you create in the App is ever transmitted to us or to any third party.

The only data-related activity in the App comes from the third-party advertising SDK (Google AdMob) used to display ads, as described in Section 4 below.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address
  • Any account credentials (the App has no login or account system)
  • Your calculation inputs, saved results, calculation history, or favorites (these are stored only in local device storage via Hive and never leave your device)
  • Location data
  • Camera or microphone data
  • Contacts, files, or photos
  • Any biometric data

4. Information Collected by Third-Party Services

4.1 Google AdMob (Advertising)

The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob to support free access to the App. AdMob may collect and process limited technical data to serve and measure ads, which can include:

  • Advertising ID (a resettable, non-permanent device identifier)
  • Device information (device model, OS version, language, screen size)
  • IP address (used to approximate general region for ad relevance)
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and Google AdMob's data handling policies. We do not have access to, and do not separately store, this advertising data ourselves.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device's ad settings:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization"

4.2 No Other Third-Party SDKs

Civil Cal does not integrate any analytics SDK, crash-reporting SDK, cloud database, authentication provider, or social media SDK. The only third-party service integrated is Google AdMob as described above.

5. Local Data Storage (On Your Device Only)

The App uses Hive (a local, offline NoSQL database) to store the following exclusively on your device:

  • Calculation history (per-calculator results, timestamped)
  • Favorite/starred calculators
  • Your preferred unit system (SI/Metric or Imperial/FPS)
  • Your selected app language and theme preference

This data:

  • Is never uploaded to any server operated by us or any third party
  • Can be permanently deleted at any time via Settings → Data & Storage → Clear Calculation History
  • Is automatically removed if you uninstall the App

6. Children's Privacy

Civil Cal is intended for engineering students, professionals, and competitive-exam aspirants and is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. As the App itself collects no personal information, and only the AdMob SDK processes limited device/advertising data as described above, this risk is inherently minimal. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at support.purohitmoshai@gmail.com.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / DPDP Act 2023)

Because the App does not collect or store personal data on any server we control, most data-subject requests (access, correction, deletion, portability) are not applicable to app-side data — that data lives only on your device and is fully within your control via the App's Settings or by uninstalling the App.

For matters concerning data processed by Google AdMob (e.g., advertising ID, regional ad data), you may exercise your rights directly with Google via:

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA), or India (DPDP Act 2023) and have questions about how AdMob processes your data, or wish to raise any other privacy query related to this App, you may contact us at the email below and we will assist or direct you appropriately.

8. Data Security

Since no personal calculation data leaves your device, the primary security consideration is your device's own security (screen lock, OS updates, etc.), which we recommend you maintain. Any data transmitted to Google AdMob is protected under Google's industry-standard security practices.

9. Data Retention

  • On-device data (history, favorites, settings): retained until you clear it manually or uninstall the App.
  • AdMob data: retained by Google per Google's own retention policies, outside our control.

10. International Data Transfers

Since Civil Cal does not operate its own servers, no personal data is transferred by us internationally. Any cross-border data processing related to advertising is handled by Google under its own compliance frameworks (including EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in applicable law or App functionality. Updates will be posted within the App (Settings → About & Legal → Privacy Policy) and on our website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.

12. Consent for Ad Personalization (GDPR/CCPA Consent Notice)

Where required by applicable law (e.g., for users in the EEA, UK, or California), the App will present a consent management dialog (via Google's User Messaging Platform / UMP SDK or equivalent) before showing personalized ads, allowing you to accept or decline ad personalization. You may change your choice at any time via Settings → Privacy → Ad Preferences within the App, or via your device's Google Ads Settings.
