PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: August 5, 2026 Last Updated: August 5, 2026
Purohit Moshai ("we," "us," "our," or "Developer") operates the mobile application Mech Cal (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the App. This policy is designed to comply with the Google Play Developer Program Policies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
By downloading, installing, or using Mech Cal, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Overview — Mech Cal is an Offline App
Mech Cal is a 100% offline mechanical engineering calculator application. All calculations, formulas, and results are computed entirely on your device. The App does not require an internet connection to perform its core function, does not use a remote server or backend database, and does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal identity information to use the App.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address
- Your calculation history, saved favorites, or input values (these are stored locally on your device only, using local device storage, and are never transmitted to us or any third party)
- Photos, contacts, microphone, camera, or location data (the App does not request access to any of these device permissions)
- Any biometric or health information
3. Information Collected Automatically (via Advertising Services)
Mech Cal is a free application supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob to display banner and interstitial advertisements within the App. To deliver and measure advertising, Google AdMob and its partner networks may automatically collect limited technical information, which may include:
- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / AAID)
- Device type, operating system version, and language settings
- IP address (used for approximate location and fraud prevention, not stored by us)
- App usage interactions relevant to ad performance (e.g., ad impressions, clicks)
This data is collected and processed by Google and its advertising partners, not directly by the Developer, and is governed by Google's own privacy policy. We do not have access to, and do not independently collect or store, this advertising data on our own servers, because Mech Cal has no backend server of any kind.
Google's relevant policies:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google AdMob Data Collection: https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
- How Google uses information from partner sites/apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
4. Local Device Storage
The App uses on-device local storage (via the Hive local database engine) to save:
- Your language and unit-system preference (SI/Imperial)
- Your calculation history (for your convenience, so you can revisit past results)
- Your favorited calculators
This data never leaves your device. It is not backed up to any cloud service by the App, is not accessible by the Developer, and is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App or clear the App's data/cache from your device settings.
5. Children's Privacy
Mech Cal is intended for students and professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age under applicable law, such as 13 under COPPA or as otherwise required under the India DPDP Act, 2023 for processing children's data). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Advertising served within the App is configured, where technically supported by Google AdMob, to be non-personalized for users who are known to be under the applicable age of digital consent. If we become aware that a child has provided personal information through the App, we will take steps to delete such information; however, since the App collects no personal information directly, this scenario is not expected to arise from the App's own operation.
6. Your Rights (GDPR — European Economic Area / UK Users)
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR in relation to any personal data processed by third parties (such as Google AdMob) in connection with the App, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and the right to data portability. Because such processing is carried out by Google as an independent controller/processor for advertising purposes, these rights are best exercised directly through Google's account and ad-settings tools:
- Google Ad Settings: https://adssettings.google.com
- Google's data subject request tools: https://support.google.com/policies/troubleshooter/7575787
7. Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA — California Users)
Mech Cal does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA, because the Developer does not collect or hold any personal information directly. Any technical/advertising identifiers processed by Google AdMob are subject to Google's own CCPA compliance measures. California residents may opt out of personalized advertising through their device's advertising ID settings (see Section 9 below) or through Google's Ad Settings linked above.
8. Your Rights (India DPDP Act, 2023)
In accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we confirm that the Developer does not act as a Data Fiduciary collecting or processing Personal Data directly through the App, as no personal data is collected, stored, or processed on any Developer-controlled server. Any limited technical/advertising data processed occurs through Google AdMob, acting under its own compliance obligations. Users may exercise consent-withdrawal and grievance rights concerning advertising data directly through Google's Ad Settings (linked above) or by contacting the Developer using the details in Section 11, and we will make reasonable efforts to direct such requests appropriately.
9. How to Opt Out of Personalized Advertising
You can limit ad personalization at the device level:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization" (or "Delete advertising ID," depending on Android version)
- You may also review and adjust preferences at: https://adssettings.google.com
Opting out will not stop ads from appearing in the App, but ads shown may be less relevant to your interests.
10. Data Security
Because Mech Cal does not transmit personal information to any Developer-controlled server, there is no Developer-side database of user data that could be exposed in a breach. Data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's own operating system security and permission model. We recommend keeping your device's operating system and security settings up to date.
11. Third-Party Services Used
| Service | Purpose | Data Involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | In-app advertising | Advertising ID, device/technical data (per Section 3) |
| Google Play Services | App distribution, crash diagnostics (if enabled by Play Store) | Standard Play Store diagnostic data per Google Play's own policies |
The App does not use any other third-party analytics, tracking, or backend service beyond the above.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or advertising practices. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will, where feasible, also be reflected in the App's Play Store listing update notes.
13. Contact Us
