Privacy Policy
Thanks for using GPA / CGPA & Exam Marks Cal. We built this app to help students in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan work out their GPA, CGPA, and exam results quickly and privately. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens with your information when you use the app.
The short version
We don't ask you to create an account, we don't collect your name or any personal details, and every calculation you run stays on your own phone. The only outside service involved is Google AdMob, which shows ads to keep the app free, and which may collect some technical data for that purpose. That's really the whole story — the sections below just go into more detail so you know exactly where you stand.
1. Information we do not collect
We don't require sign-up or login, so we never see your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier. We also don't collect the actual marks, grades, or subject names you enter into the calculators — that information is used only to run the calculation on your device and is never sent to us or to any server we control.
2. Information stored on your device
If you choose to save a result to your calculation history, it's stored locally on your phone using on-device storage (Hive). This history — your saved GPA/CGPA entries, custom grading profiles you've built, and your home country/board preference — never leaves your device unless you decide to share it yourself using the app's share feature. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this history is deleted along with it. We have no way of accessing it, backing it up, or recovering it for you.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free to use and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To show ads, AdMob may collect technical information such as your advertising ID, general device information, and approximate location (derived from IP address), and it may use this to serve either personalized or non-personalized ads depending on the consent choices you make (or that apply automatically in your region, such as under GDPR or similar frameworks).
We don't control what AdMob collects or how it's used beyond configuring the ad units in our app — that's governed by Google's own policies. You can read more in Google's Ads Privacy & Terms page, and you can manage your ad personalization settings through your device's ad settings at any time.
4. Children's privacy
This is an educational app that students of school age are likely to use. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, and we don't run behavioral or interest-based advertising aimed at children. Where the app is made available in a way that falls under Google Play's Families policies or COPPA, ads are served in a manner appropriate for a general or child-directed audience, and no personal data is collected to build profiles of individual children. If you're a parent or guardian and have concerns about your child's use of the app, please reach out to us and we'll help.
5. Permissions
The app only requests the device permissions it genuinely needs to function — for things like internet access (used solely to load ads) and, where relevant, storage access for saving or sharing a result. We don't request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, or messages, and we don't use any permission to collect personal data.
6. Data sharing
We don't sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, because there's no personal data on our side to share in the first place. The only outside party involved at all is Google AdMob, as described in Section 3, and that relationship is limited to serving ads.
7. Your rights
Since we don't collect or store personal data on any server, there's nothing for us to hand over, correct, or delete on request — your calculation history already lives entirely on your own device, under your control. You can view, export (via the share feature), or permanently delete it at any time simply by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app. If you have questions about how AdMob's advertising data is handled, including any rights you may have under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, Google's policies linked in Section 3 explain how to exercise those rights directly with Google.
8. Data security
Your saved history is stored in the app's private, sandboxed storage on your device, which other apps can't access. Since we don't operate a backend server for this app, there's no central database of user data that could be exposed in a breach — the risk simply doesn't exist in the way it would for an app that stores your data in the cloud.
9. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy — for example, to reflect a new feature or a change in how AdMob operates — we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version here and in the app. We'd encourage you to check back occasionally, but we won't make changes that reduce your privacy without making that clear.
10. Disclaimer
GPA / CGPA & Exam Marks Cal provides indicative, unofficial calculations based on publicly available grading rules for CBSE, WBBSE, Bangladesh Education Boards, and Pakistani education boards (including FBISE and IBCC-notified schemes). Results are for personal reference only and are not an official grade, marksheet, or result. Please always verify your official result on your respective board's official website or marksheet. Purohit Moshai is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to CBSE, WBBSE, any Bangladesh Education Board, FBISE, IBCC, or any other education board referenced in this app.
